Founding AI Engineer (Fintech/LLM)

Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid, 4 days onsite)

Role Overview

Founding AI Engineer role owning the end-to-end design, development, and scaling of LLM-powered product features within a high-growth fintech platform. This position directly impacts core product intelligence and user experience through applied AI systems in production.

Responsibilities

• Own and ship AI features end-to-end from concept to production across full-stack systems
• Design and build LLM-powered product features used by large-scale active user base
• Architect and maintain AI systems including prompt orchestration, memory, and contextual personalization
• Develop retrieval systems leveraging embeddings, RAG pipelines, and financial data grounding
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure model quality, reasoning accuracy, and safety
• Optimize model performance, latency, and cost efficiency in production environments
• Implement guardrails and compliance controls for AI systems in regulated financial contexts
• Collaborate directly with founders and cross-functional teams to iterate quickly on product features

Requirements

• 3+ years of production software engineering experience or exceptional new graduate
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered applications in production
• Experience with RAG systems, embeddings, or retrieval architectures
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals and system design experience
• Ability to own systems end-to-end and operate independently
