About the Company

Our client is a project-based technical learning platform with 200,000+ learners across 190+ countries, built on the thesis that learning should be about building rather than lectures and quizzes — and that you should showcase your work in a portfolio rather than a resume line. Learners build using AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, LangChain, and RAG, with a portfolio website auto-generated in the background as they go. Real outcomes include people landing jobs within 15 days of joining and becoming AI community leaders in their countries.

The Role

The client is hiring a Senior Product Engineer who owns user-facing problems end to end — design, build, ship, operate, monitor. This is explicitly not a systems or infrastructure role; it requires judgment and first-principles product ownership, not just execution.

Tech stack: GCP; Go or Node/TypeScript (backend). Nice-to-have exposure: RAG, graph-based data modeling.

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of engineering (4–5 acceptable with stellar progression)
  • A first or early engineer at a startup with 0-1 ownership
  • A backend product engineer (not systems/infra)
  • GCP, Go or Node/TS preferred
  • Positive AI adoption in daily workflow
  • On-site in Austin, 5 days (West 6th Street)

Nice to Haves

  • A first or early engineer at a startup that scaled past 0-to-1, with measurable user impact
  • Consistent scope and title progression over the past 5–10 years
  • Owned a core product domain (data model, critical user flow, growth surface) end to end
  • Positive, practical AI adoption in daily workflow (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar)
  • A cross-functional shipper who talks in terms of user impact and business outcomes, not just code

Why Join

  • Massive, mission-driven reach: 200,000+ learners across 190+ countries, with documented life-changing outcomes
  • True 0-to-1 ownership: one of the first product engineers on a 7-person seed-stage team, with a clear path to Series A in ~12 months
  • An AI-native engineering culture where practical AI adoption is expected and valued
