Job Description:

Founding Engineer, Fullstack

Brooklyn, NY · Hybrid · Full-time
Compensation: $160,000–$220,000 + 0.1%–0.5% equity

About the Company

An AI-native platform automating the entire wholesale order-to-cash lifecycle for consumer brands — replacing spreadsheets, email chains, and manual data entry with autonomous, agentic workflows spanning purchase orders, freight coordination, invoicing, and payment reconciliation. Wholesale is roughly 7x the size of e-commerce but still runs on decades-old infrastructure. The product is live with fast-growing CPG brands and has processed $500M+ in annualized wholesale volume.
Founded 2026 · 1–10 people · Seed-stage ($3.2M raised) · Industry: AI Tools / supply-chain automation

The Role

Own the core platform powering the company's AI agents and customer experience. The moat isn't the model — it's the scaffolding that connects AI to real-world systems (ERPs, 3PLs, retailers, freight partners) with real-world reliability, where downtime means missed shipments for real brands. You'll work directly with the founders, take features from concept to production, and watch customers use what you build.

What you'll be doing

  • Take customer-facing features from concept to production
  • Design secure, auditable data models and event-driven pipelines that power AI agent workflows
  • Develop internal and external APIs and a real-time operator console
  • Build first-party integrations with ERPs, 3PLs, retailers, and freight partners, plus a resilient sync layer
  • Establish observability, SLOs, and on-call practices for mission-critical workflows
  • Work across the full stack wherever the highest-leverage problem lives

Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, React (Supabase / Next.js a plus)

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of software engineering experience, ideally including time at a high-agency startup where you owned product work end-to-end
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, the core stack
  • Postgres for data modeling and query performance
  • Full-stack capability, including React for customer-facing product surfaces
  • Comfortable with event-driven patterns — webhooks, async workflows, integrations that keep external systems in sync

Green Flags

  • Big-tech-then-startup arc. Left a FAANG or scaled company to join something early and shipped real product ownership there, not just feature work inside someone else's scope.
  • Background in logistics, supply chain, freight, or CPG-adjacent software (Flexport is the clearest signal)
  • Has built mission-critical backend systems where reliability and observability actually mattered, not just happy-path features
  • Experience with AI agent infrastructure or event-driven pipelines in production
  • Customer-facing engineering instinct: talks to users, cares equally about developer and operator experience, and uses that to make better product decisions

Red Flags

  • Only big tech or FAANG experience with no evidence of operating without structure and defined scope
  • Job hopper, short stints that did not result in anything shipped and meaningful
  • Personal instability flagged from a prior hire
  • Needs a task queue to be productive, this role requires someone who generates their own priorities
  • Not willing to be in person in Brooklyn most of the week

Why Join

  • Real founding-engineer ownership, working directly with the founders
  • Live product with fast-growing CPG brands and $500M+ in annualized wholesale volume
  • Greenfield, under-built market (wholesale is ~7x e-commerce)

Details

  • Location: Brooklyn, NY
  • Work policy: Hybrid; strong preference in-person most of the week
  • Compensation: $160,000–$220,000 + equity
  • Visa sponsorship: None available
  • Employment type: Full-time
