Compensation: $90,000 – $135,000 base + competitive equity

Sunset is a fast-growing legal tech startup helping venture-backed companies shut down gracefully. The company manages dissolutions, legal filings, investor distributions, and operational wind-downs for startups. Sunset has also launched a rapidly growing AI data licensing business involving real workplace datasets for model training.

The company has raised $5.5M and is scaling quickly across both its operational and AI data businesses.

About the Role

Sunset is hiring a Client Success Manager to support founders throughout the full company dissolution lifecycle. This is not a sales or upsell role — success is measured by operational accuracy, responsiveness, and founder confidence during high-stress transitions. The role combines customer success, operations, legal process coordination, and project management responsibilities in a startup environment.

What You'll Own

  • Serve as the primary contact for client communication via phone, email, and tickets
  • Manage founders through the full dissolution lifecycle
  • Handle operational workflows including IRS 966 filings, investor capital distributions, and account closures
  • Onboard clients into the Sunset platform and guide them through processes
  • Become an expert in corporate wind-down procedures
  • Maintain high CSAT, NPS, and SLA performance
  • Collaborate with engineering, GTM, and operations teams
  • Contribute feedback to improve internal processes and product workflows
  • Create educational and help center documentation

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years in client success, customer support, operations, or account management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with founders, attorneys, investors, and finance professionals
  • Highly organized and able to manage 30–40 active client accounts simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving ability and curiosity
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-stakes environments
  • Empathetic and emotionally intelligent communication style
  • Based in NYC or willing to relocate; comfortable working fully onsite in Brooklyn

Nice to Have

  • Startup experience
  • Zendesk, Pylon, or ticketing platform experience
  • Project management background
  • Exposure to legal, tax, or finance operations
  • Strong phone communication and relationship management skills

  • Large enterprise-only CSM backgrounds without startup exposure
  • Candidates with weak interest in the founder support mission
  • Those who prefer rigid structure over ambiguity and ownership
