Job Description:

An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Director / Project Manager for its Power & Infrastructure Department.

There is an immediate need for an experienced professional to provide industry-leading design and technical leadership on complex power generation projects.

Position Summary

As the Director / Project Manager, you will serve as the technical lead for the design execution of power projects up to 200 MW.

You will oversee all mechanical project design activities and will be responsible for design quality and delivery of contracted scope.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as mechanical subject matter expert for power generation projects from 25 – 200 MW, including combined cycle and simple cycle combustion turbine plants.

  • Supervise and manage assigned mechanical engineers on each project, providing technical guidance, training, and support for junior engineers.

  • Perform calculations, modeling, engineering analysis, and code research as required.

  • Conduct peer review, technical oversight, and quality control of design team work products.

  • Provide hands-on engineering project management by reviewing project plans and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Adjust staffing and resources as needed.

  • Organize and facilitate internal and external client meetings, ensuring action items are documented and completed.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and subcontractors throughout project execution.

  • Partner with senior leadership to respond to client RFPs and support development of bid proposals, contracts, cost estimates, and project budgets.

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and referrals.

  • Ensure accurate project accounting including project setup, invoicing, and accounts receivable in accordance with established protocols.

  • Participate in industry conferences, business development initiatives, and marketing activities related to the Power & Infrastructure practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience, including significant experience in engineering for IPP and utility-scale combustion turbine plants

  • Experience executing multi-discipline projects utilizing BIM platforms or equivalent tools

  • Demonstrated experience with GE, Siemens, and/or Solar combustion turbines

  • Strong knowledge specifying and integrating into engineered systems including:

    • Industrial frame combustion turbines

    • Natural gas and diesel internal combustion engines

    • Heat recovery equipment

    • Packaged boilers

    • Balance of plant mechanical systems

  • Knowledge of local, state, and national code requirements

  • Ability to coordinate across electrical, controls, structural, civil, and air permitting disciplines

  • Experience supporting the construction phase including site visits, factory testing, shop drawing coordination, and piping design

  • Pipe stress analysis experience is a plus

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus

  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)

Location

This position may be based in the firm's headquarters in Southern New Jersey or in other regional offices including Philadelphia, New York, or Princeton.

A hybrid work schedule is available.

Compensation

Competitive compensation package including sign-on bonus.

Base salary range: $180,000 – $200,000, dependent on experience.
